1. Note from the President

Dear friends of EUROTAS:

We are now coming very close to our next - the 11th, EUROTAS Conference. This time it is in Milano under the auspices of Pier Luigi Lattuada and the Italian Transpersonal Association. As you can see again by taking a look at the program, they did a wonderful job and we can count on another highly impressive event. Big names among the presenters, a powerful program, lots of events, space for contacts and renewal of friendships and a very nice venue. It looks like everything is in place. Besides this, we will have almost a full day for our National Delegates meeting, something that is of the utmost importance as many important issues must be discussed. I am stepping down from being the President and we must elect my successor and two new Board members.

Meanwhile, EUROTAS is undergoing important challenges. As you know, we have a very nice Newsletter, thanks to the enduring collaboration and effort of John Drew. We have a nice website, thanks to a very competent and good willed collaboration of Erich Meyer. We have developed the process of certification for Transpersonal Psychotherapists and implemented it. We have made extremely successful annual Conferences each year thanks to the efforts of National Associations with lots of volunteers. This year Pier Luigi Lattuada and his crew are doing a magnificent and challenging job. We have been expanding and welcoming new member countries and Associations. Our network of connections has also expanded. Thanks to our dear recently departed Rumold Moll, connections with Eastern countries were made and developed and trainers from EUROTAS went there and contributed to the development of local Associations, spreading the transpersonal movement. On our horizons there is the possibility of developing a European Masters Degree in Transpersonal Psychology, with the precious help of Magda Sole from Catalonia and her group. We are developing stronger international connections, particularly with the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP) in the USA. We are trying to move into the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP), which would be a major step towards the acceptance and promotion of the transpersonal approach worldwide. So this is the right and necessary moment to discuss some issues, particularly EUROTAS finances as we cannot move on without some health in this area

I am very happy to know that we will have the opportunity of meeting new and old friends during the Congress and that once more we have the context for excellent work

As a last note, I want to say farewell to Beata Bishop, a lady lots of us know about, as she is moving on to demanding tasks in the area of Healing and she is choosing to step down from the Board of EUROTAS. We received her resignation very recently and we can but wish her all the best for her present challenges and tasks. She has served for more than 20 years and made an enduring collaboration with EUROTAS. She has given many wise and impressive talks and will be remembered for her incisiveness, her humour and her always constructive presence. We will miss her but courageously resist jealousy towards many others who will now benefit from her energy and her therapeutic skills. So, dear Beata, you will be in other places during our Congress but we will keep you in our hearts

We know that some people will have difficulty finding funds to come and as we usually do, we will try to help. Ank Van Gulik has taken over the work of our dear Rumold Mol with the East-West EUROTAS foundation. She can probably help some people and also the Board of EUROTAS will try to use some funds for this. Please let us know about your needs. My email is: psicosophos@sapo.pt

Warmest regards to all of you,

Vitor Rodrigues, PhD
President of EUROTAS

USER GUIDE – NEXT STEPS

In ancient times alchemists worked metals, trying through processing of the material to find manifestations of spiritual purification.

Acting in the world, making an action like organizing the 11th EUROTAS Conference is like an alchemical operation, recommended to anyone who wants to test their own imperfection!

This note is for us to make steps together towards Right Actions!

  1. Each member will soon receive a receipt with precise indications of the services purchased
  2. Each speaker is asked to read the program that is on the web site indicating the date, time and nature of their presentation
  3. In the program there is a note at the end which specifies the nature and duration of different types of presentation. Please make sure you keep to the duration. It is important not to go longer. Please bear in mind that if your contribution is being interpreted consecutively, your presentation time is half of what it is with simultaneous interpretation
  4. May I remind you that if you have paid for the basic package which includes conference admission plus food and lodging, you have paid for the lunches and nights from 14 to 17 October inclusive. Any additional nights will need to be settled separately
  5. Delegates to the annual EUROTAS meeting. This will take place on 14th October starting from 11am at the same premises as the Conference at the Hotel Ripamontidue
  6. As for the hotel, on the web site you can find the link where you can have access to all the info on traveling to the Ripamontidue from any source. Please note that Milan has three airports: Malpensa, Linate and Orio al Serio. Malpensa and Orio al Serio are about 50km from Milan. Linate airport is in town
  7. Those who have not yet made or adjusted their registration are requested to do so before 30th September. After that time we will not be able to guarantee rooms at the Ripamontidue
  8. The website is: www.eurotasitaly2009.eu where you can post your sentences or suggestions in “contributions”, or send them directly to our mail transpersonal@fastwebnet.it

Looking forward to meeting you and sending a hug from the heart
Pier Luigi Lattuada
