The European Transpersonal Association

Newsletter Number 2
26 February 1999

Dear EUROTAS Council Members and friends of EUROTAS

1. The Founding Assembly of the Creative Initiative and EUROTAS Council Meeting Hungary 4-8 August 1999. The news is good. Rumold Moll who was recently in Hungary making preparations writes: "Let me start with the end. Last evening Kati and I each drew a card from the "Inner Child Game " - beautifully coloured cards and translated into Hungarian. The answers were an exceptional positive coincidence — many people and good outcomes! " In practical terms, most of our 14 countries have let us know that their Council Members will attend and there are over 20 guest applications already to join the Creative Initiative Meeting from Sweden, Germany, Belgium, U.K., Switzerland, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Hungary and others. Rumold says: "The Hungarian President has nominated a preparatory committee of six enthusiastic people to make a success of the meeting…the environment is gorgeous, forest and wide views of the Danube inviting cool summer walks. The guestrooms are very nice and the Sauna and swimming pool are beautiful. The whole hotel will be for us." It is going to be a very special meeting, so please write and let us know your plans and also please if you have not already done so, invite guests. Those who already want to come are really interesting and interested.

2. The Austrian Association of Transpersonal Psychology and Psychotherapy. The Chairman, Dr Hans Weidinger has asked to join EUROTAS. " As far as I know we are the only association in Austria which supports the interest of Transpersonal Psychology on a broad basis. Recognised by the Austrian Professional Psychotherapy Association, it has a number of regional associations." Further information on Internet http://www.transpersonal.at/aktrans/. I hope representatives will come to Hungary to present their Association.

3. The Institute for Transpersonal Psychology in Switzerland, lead by Fausto Sommer who writes: " I am a member of the American Transpersonal Association, am Swiss and would like information regarding membership and events. Fausto will come to Hungary to meet us in August.

4. The German Transpersonal Association. Martin Gruber writes: " There has been important processing in the Association… as in EUROTAS …which I am sure will carry new beginnings and flowering of the transpersonal. " When I was in Berlin, I met Jutta Gruber who according to Martin, (who at the last minute could not be present,) is " the very soul of GTA who holds the threads together in a charming way. " She also introduced me to Marco Bischof, author, frontier scientist and member of GTA’s Scientific Council - http://www.transpersonal.de/mbischof/englisch/index.htm and Rudiger Fleisch who is co-operating with GTA on a congress "Visions and Visionaries" global acting on global consciousness. http://www.share-nlp.com I hope that Jutta will come to Hungary and Marco and Rudiger are also invited.

5. Assisi Conference. Laura Boggio Gilot writes that the European Transpersonal Psychology Association - (www.europsy.prg/etpa) has been started and " that may only be good for the future of the transpersonal approach. " " The Assisi Conference is attracting much interest. Please let us know in which way EUROTAS and its members may promote the Conference. " We agreed in Ispra to write to Laura and may I encourage you to do so if you have not done so already. "We have just received a nice card from Rumold," she writes, but some of us owe her a note and advice.

6. Mário Simões from Alubrat (Portuguese- Brazilian Transpersonal Association) asked me to send you information about their activities. He says: " we have a series of 5 one day seminars on "studies of consciousness"; a round table entitled "Perspectives on Time"; a workshop on "Relaxation and Visualisation"; workshops on holistic basic training ("shamanic consciousness", "the art of living", "The therapists of Alexandria", "Ecology of Being", "Tibetan Buddhism tradition. and " cosmopsychology and astrodrama"); the International Congress takes place in September. Details of this and Alubrat on http//www. terravista.pt/Bilene/3355/A

7. Kersten Haraldsdotter (formerly Pinet) of the Swedish Transpersonal Association tells me in a lovely letter that she has taken her father’s name and looks " forward to Budapest when will bring at least three colleagues from the Delphi Institute" She has sent proposals for the various groups of the European Creative Initiative.

8. Address List. I have now much of the material for an update and will send it to you shortly. Please think about how you can get onto email if you have not done so already. It is so cheap and effective. We should develop the web page, which Marc Alain started. My aim is to have on a floppy disc and perhaps on a website a directory of all of us and what interesteds us. There is so much happening across Europe and I see EUROTAS very much as a network and a communications channel.

9. In my last letter, I asked you for any issues your Association might wish to raise at the EUROTAS Council meeting in August in Hungary. Please email or fax them to me. I have received comments on the draft minutes of the Ispra Council. Are there any more please? The proposed amendments to the ByeLaws and Constitution will be with you shortly. I have had some suggestions for nominations to the Board of EUROTAS — do you have any more? The more people we can have working for the organisation in a decentralised and delegated way the better.

10. The International Journal of Transpersonal Studies " is now published by: Panigada Press, PO Box 22877, Honolulu, HI 96823-2877 USA. Cost is $24 for two issues as individuals and double that as an Association. A note is available and I will send it next time or ask for a fax of it.

11. Future Newsletters. There are so many transpersonal happenings across Europe. We do not know about most of them and they do not know about us. Please let me know of anything to do with your association or your personal work or interests about which you would like to tell others. I will try to include them in my next newsletter. Please send a short precis of not more than six lines. It is better you tell me what you would like to say rather than my summarising it.

12. Note from Evgueni from Russia. " In my trip to Nepal, we visited many ancient Buddhist monasteries … met a wonderful Tibetan lama who lives there for more than 15 years. While talking to him, we all experienced amazing insights…. saw many UFOs .interesting zones with Shivaist symbols, magic places with archetypes of goblins, trolls and nagas. Everywhere the computer scans showed the appropriate symbols."

13. A book on the UK Training. Liz McCormick is co-editing a book based on the UKCTP training over the past twenty years, which has never been published before. It will be published by Cassell. " I support, dear friends, the Creative Initiative in any way I can," she writes.

14 More news soon, but please may I ask you now to give thought to Hungary. Please let me or Rumold know if you require any further information or documents.

With love and as ever,

John
