1. A note from our President:
EUROTAS 12th Conference in Gwatt, Switzerland – “Knowledge, pleasure, belief.”
Dear friends,
The Conference took place on the magical Lake of Thun in the Bernese Alps. We had a dreamtime there with late summer weather. It was a good place to meet, to exchange our ideas and to follow the energy that is changing the EUROTAS network.
Fausto and his team ensured an excellently organized meeting – sincere thanks to them and to their many helpers without whom the whole event would not have been possible.
The conference title had been chosen and worked out by our Swiss friends – “Knowledge, pleasure and belief “ - as the key-energies enfolding the “transpersonal” through theoretical considerations, exercises, and as a communications challenge between all participants.
When we asked the question what is the transpersonal about, the response came through the historical unfolding of transpersonal psychology. Its beginnings with the recognition of unique experiences show the infinite extent of the human soul and the richness and creativity of consciousness which is not only related to the human brain but to the nature of our universe. After rediscovering the old spiritual wisdom and integrating modern Western art, science, psychology and psychotherapy, we focus today on ”spirituality in engaged communication”, ”spirituality in every day life” and ”spirituality emerging through ourselves into the evolution of consciousness and into concrete action if that is what is required”.
I think we can see how EUROTAS is changing from a network of a transpersonal family to a professional organization and if envisioned further, to an organization that contributes both internationally and socially. It represents spiritual values and transpersonal methods that could be a valuable contribution to the future of our planet world.
An expression of this new development has been the engaged discussion within the Delegates Meeting which underlines the growing professional activities within EUROTAS:
- the application process of EUROTAS to become a member of the EAP
(European Association of Psychotherapy) - the EUROTAS working group of ECCA (European Committee of Certification and Accreditation).
- the new first and now published edition of the online “Journal of Transpersonal Research” (Roman Gonzalvo.)
- The cooperation between EUROTAS and the newly re-founded International Transpersonal Association
The Delegates’ meeting elected an enlarged Board. There are now 9 Board Members who will each have a specific focus:
- Ingo Jahrsetz, mail@eurotas.org, ECCA, conferences, training
- Magda Solé, magdasole1@gmail.com, Facebook, cooperation with institutes, website
- Pier Luigi Lattuada, transpersonal@fastwebnet.it, new projects, the new Journal
- Ludmila Scortesca, lscartesca@yahoo.com, PR work, sponsorship, website
- Ingrida Indane, artterapija@gmail.com, Art website
- Gennady Brevde, psyche@GB4205.spb.edu, ECCA
- Jure Biechonski, biechon@msn.com, network, education
- Steven Schmitz, transpersonal_light@yahoo.com network, development, website, cooperation with institutes:
- Bernadette Blin, blinlery@wanadoo.fr, ECCA, training
- Dietrich Franke, dr.dietrich.franke@gmx.de, treasurer
We are very grateful that John Drew will continue his wonderful work and edit the newsletter
There was an intense discussion about how to improve communication between EUROTAS members and how to present it in public efficiently both at its conferences and in between.
The big task of an attractive internet image was discussed. Practical input of members is very welcome.
A center of communication is the EUROTAS office (Mo-Thur 9.30-12.30h. The Office Manager is Katrin Nowack; Mo 10-12 Ingo B. Jahrsetz). Emails and phone calls are welcome +49-761-475846.
With best wishes and hoping to hear from you
Ingo
2. Fausto Sergei Sommer and his team talk about the 12th EUROTAS conference at GWATT
We were very pleased to hold the 2010 EUROTAS conference here in Switzerland. The weather gods were kind with us so that the surrounding landscape could present itself from the most glamorous side. Therefore the participants felt at ease and the seeds of our work fell on fertile ground. All the members of the organizing team had the feeling that their work was appreciated a lot and that made everybody feel extremely good. So, the team had a great time in spite of the amount of work at hand on such an occasion.
We had the feeling, that the chosen topic for the conference, was very appropriate and that the participants understood the importance and implications for the Transpersonal as such and for particular issues within. The Conference was able to inform the latter of the importance and necessity of a new and up-dated view of what and how the theory and practice of the Transpersonal needs to focus on in future. It is not a matter of changing a title or a name. It is rather a matter of having a vision of how the existing can be integrated into a world that is drastically changing and re-shaping itself. The Transpersonal needs to be part of this transition and not in one field but rather in all areas.
Unfortunately for us here in Switzerland, although we very much hoped for this, not many new faces appeared at the Conference. We were hoping for a coming together of many different schools and groups. This has not happened. Furthermore many representatives from EUROTAS Eastern countries were not present at the Conference. We therefore did not feel supported from part of the EUROTAS community. The small amount of participants was also cause for the financial deficit we have.
However, the Conference was a success. We had many good presentations and all of them of a very high standard. We had many deep discussions during and around the presentations and many a good talk between old and new friends. New perspectives were brought into our consciousness and the belief that the Transpersonal has something important to offer in this world could be reinforced.
We received many a good feed back from participants. However, we would also welcome more feed back now that more time has relapsed. So we invite all participants to contact us and feed us with whatever has moved, pushed and pulled you before, during and after the event.
Thank you all for having been here with us. Thank you all for participating in lively and reflective discussions that further the understanding and the vision of what the Transpersonal is or could be.
Light, love and peace
Fausto Sergej
3. News from Lithuania - The newborn European project in Lithuania
The mission of the Conference is to present, both experientially and didactically, breakthrough discoveries Dear friends
In February 2010 the European Transpersonal Centre (ETC) will start activities in Lithuania. The program of the Centre includes seminars of two days or more, sessions, workshops, and long-term courses about the chief masters in transpersonal psychology, psychotherapy and corresponding fields from all over the world.
The events organized by ETC aim to produce profound experiences, deliver fruitful knowledge and skills; assist the processes of evolutional transformation and development and personal growth of their participants.
ETC is not a “firework”, but a “fireplace”. It will nurture continuous activities in a warm atmosphere. Participants in events receive knowledge and practical experience. ETC will cross the divide between English and Russian speaking Europeans and the working languages of the Centre will be both English and Russian
ETC also gives opportunity and space for social meetings, looking for and finding professional fellowship and personal friendship. One of the goals of ETC is to set and improve information exchange between transpersonal oriented persons and communities.
The fundamental principles of our programs are:
- Versatility. Our workshops are intended for psychologists/psychotherapists as well as people of all professions striving for personal development and creative advancement.
- Diversity of methods and techniques for managing the patient/client or oneself.
- High level instruction. Workshops will be conducted by leading specialists renowned in Europe and worldwide, authors of original concepts, and founders of scientific and practical schools.
ETC is an autonomous foundation of the “Whole World” Transpersonal
Association. Activities of the Center are realized and coordinated by the Lithuanian
Branch of the “Whole World” – “Visas Pasaulis”.
The President of the Center is Gennady Brevde, PhD, certified transpersonal psychotherapist. Our Center is launching and developing in close friendly cooperation with the EUROTAS community, national transpersonal associations and their leaders.
The process of establishing and developing of our center will contribute to revival of Lithuanian Transpersonal Association and starting of its activities.
We are interested in and cordially welcome fruitful interaction and collaboration with humanistic and transpersonal oriented people from all European countries, from all professional and non-professional communities and associations.
Feel free to contact us! Our web-address is www.transpersonalcenter.eu
4. The EUROTAS Website and Newsletter
Dear John, Ingo Jahrsetz wrote recently:
“On Saturday we had a Skype board-meeting; I also talked with Katrin and Erich about the website. We talked about the process and the difficulty of creating a more interactive website which can be not only attractive for EUROTAS “insiders” but also for other transpersonal interested people. I think that this step is very important to keep EUROTAS lively. On the old website we could observe only very little “traffic”.
There is a high agreement on quality standards and on correct English. There also had been the proposal of a multi-language website which, honestly speaking, I don’t like very much. This in my view would require multi-language coordination.
I think the Board, Erich, and Katrin, myself – everybody is engaged and does his or her best. Of course this is a time of transition and transformation. My view is to encourage more people to bring in their ideas and forms of the transpersonal. This might be very imperfect but finally may lead to a systemic view about how the transpersonal is understood. In EUROTAS there are many different levels and understandings and this probably reflects the world-wide understanding of the transpersonal. I think everybody sees a part of the whole elephant. We can aim for and contribute to a distant land where a more complete understanding of the spiritual may appear.
Please ask readers of the Newsletter to help by sending us material, ideas and comments.
With love
Ingo
EUROTAS delegates are in agreement that:
We are trying to "fresh up" and change the EUROTAS website a little bit (http://www.eurotas.org/) in order to make it more attractive - and more interactive.
Our idea is to create a website that invites people to participate, to discuss, to present their association etc.
Therefore we need your participation!!!
Please send us material: that could be a little presentations of your work, your association.
Or poems, photos, interesting links or videos. Or a joke?! It don’t have to be all the time the great academic abstract :-)
We want invite people to discuss and share on the website - so if you have topics you want to ask others their opinion about and share something, please send it to me and I’ll put it on the website.
Looking forward to hear from you,
With warm greetings from Freiburg,
Katrin

Why Practical Wisdom?
Practical Wisdom focuses on helping you apply the fundamental principles of success to your life based on understanding key elements of perennial wisdom. My approach is based on many years of research and reflection about the nature of mind and consciousness and its relation to life.
Science shows that we live in an interconnected universe. Telepathy and other forms of extra-sensory perception point to a shared underlying Unity and Oneness of Mind. Practical Wisdom goes further by asserting that we live in an interactive web of consciousness, questioning the sharp distinction between ‘inner’ and ‘outer’.
Have you noticed meaningful coincidences and recurring patterns in your life? Practical Wisdom regards them as an indication of how what we call ‘inner’ - our beliefs and attitudes – is mirrored in our ‘outer’ circumstances. Thoughts are causes, conditions are effects. To paraphrase the Hermetic axiom: as within, so without. This means that by transforming our attitudes we can transform our lives.
Practical Wisdom explores these principles and insights, explaining how they affect your understanding of life and how best to live it.
Seminars and dates
Consciousness, Synchronicity and the Law of Attraction
Gibliston Mill, Fife, Saturday 23rd October 2010, Saturday 26th March 2011 and Heythrop College, London, Saturday 4th December 2010, Saturday 7th May 2011
What the mind can conceive, and bring itself to believe, the mind can achieve - Napoleon Hill
Telepathy and other forms of ESP suggest that the modern scientific understanding of consciousness – based on the assumption that the brain produces consciousness - is radically incomplete. Beginning with a survey of the New Thought movement going back as far as Ralph Waldo Emerson and William James, we will explore how our minds are both interconnected and interactive and the way in which we are all in fact embedded in and can act on the Universal Mind or Cosmic Consciousness. You will learn:
- the relationship between your conscious mind, your subconscious and the Universal Mind
- The significance of experiences of Cosmic Consciousness
- How we act on the Universal Mind by directing emotionally charged creative thought and maintaining an optimistic attitude
- The meaning and significance of synchronicity and the mechanics of the law of attraction
- Keys to transforming your habitual neural pathways and the role of affirmations
- The power of goals, definite purpose, faith and belief
- How to modify your self-image and self-concept, enhancing your self-belief and capacity for success

The Burning Bush project team (led by Tessa, together with Jill and Philip) is pleased to present the latest Burning Bush newsletter for Contemplative Fire. There is also news of Contemplative Fire's presence at the Greenbelt festival.
This issue of Burning Bush focuses on our Rhythm of Life, with contributions from across the community. Many thanks to all those who submitted articles - it's has been wonderful to hear how as a dispersed community we are 'living the Rhythm'! Inevitably, there hasn’t been space to print all contributions.
Printed copies of Burning Bush 9 will be available at Greenbelt and at the Community weekend in September. We shall also then give some out to Gathering and small group leaders. If you are unable to be present at any of these events and would welcome hard copy or copies, do get in touch with Jill and she will post them out to you.
Please do be encouraged to forward this email newsletter to anyone, anywhere, who you think might be interested. This is how seeds get sown and our shared ministry develops.
Hope you enjoy the read!

Hello, and thank you for your interest in alerting your members to the Asia Consciousness Society. Below is the paragraph for your newsletter.
With best regards -- Anne
The Asia Consciousness Society [ACS] was formed in 2010 to further the study of consciousness throughout the Asia-Pacific region in an integrative manner: multidisciplinary, cross-cultural, and inclusive of both theoretical perspective and practical application. The aim of the society is to be a pivotal focus of consciousness study and application throughout the Asia-Pacific region, bringing together scholars and scientists in order to contribute to the body of knowledge in this burgeoning field. The society takes an interdisciplinary approach for the richest possible collaborative model, to include perspectives of neuroscience, philosophy, cognitive science, medicine, social sciences, arts and humanities, physical sciences, and spiritual disciplines. 12. News from Findhorn
Findhorn College - offering news on integrative education for mind, heart, spirit and body.
Summer is getting off to a slow start here at Findhorn (temperature-wise!), but life in all its amazing diversity is still bursting forth. Humans play energetic volleyball games on the village green and bird song rings out around the Park. I enjoy eating my lunch by the Universal Hall while a pair of great tits fly back and forth over my head feeding their young. I am happy to have such close daily contact to so many plants, trees, birds, animals... and also remember that wherever I am, in city or town, if I maintain full presence and awareness I can see signs of life everywhere.
Connecting with Nature
It is increasingly being validated, that the quality of the connection we experience to nature is key to living in healthy relationship with our world and each other. In Crossing Thresholds: Transition Mentoring with Nature-based Tools, Holger Heiten will train participants in using a variety of eco-psychology and nature-based methods for supporting young people and adults through transitions in their lives. Holger’s December course was highly inspirational and I strongly recommend you take a look

Economic crisis
With the economic crisis very much in the forefront of the news these days, and the realisation the current economic system is not a future-capable way to frame our relationship with our planet, we are offering a course about how to design more resilient community money systems. In On the Money, experienced and knowledgeable teachers John Rogers and Jonathan Dawson will help participants to discover the wealth that lies at the heart of our communities and learn how to mobilise that wealth for the benefit of all. 14. News from the Estonian Transpersonal Association
We have at the moment in our Transpersonal institute over 200 students, and this in a country of 1.2 million!
Each month we are planning seminars and workshops with leading experts from around the world. We had already had excellent presentations from John Rowan, UK, Ingrida Idane, Latvia and Vitor Rodrigues from Portugal and we are certainly looking for more exciting presenters to enrich our students.
I have travelled through a few transpersonal association doing seminars and so far was in Latvia, Italy, Romania, Moldova and in Hungary.
Our aim is to start networking between our different transpersonal trainings and set up a student and teachers exchange programme.
We believe that by openness and cooperation we will enrich ourselves and strengthen our transpersonal movement.
As a Board Member of EUROTAS and responsible for Education, if you have any transpersonal training programmes in your country please inform us, if you need help in setting up a formal transpersonal training in our country just ask!
As Ingo said we are now moving from a network of friends to a professional body.
A personal request, as we need your full support and participation in EUROTAS, please please make an effort and attend the next Conference in Bulgaria next year. It is now more important then ever to cooperate and create a strong movement.
I strongly believe that it is our transpersonal duty towards humanity with love

15. Launch of the Integral Transpersonal Journal (ITJ)
The aim of the Integral Transpersonal Journal (ITJ)
The transpersonal vision is broad, deep, integral and integrating. In many ways the movement that since the 1960s has gradually established itself around this vision, thereby claiming possession of the new emerging paradigm, is revolutionary. While it is firmly rooted in science, it does not forget the wealth of knowledge borne out of the greatest spiritual traditions. Indeed, it seizes upon the most thought-provoking queries and earliest insights to have accompanied mankind throughout its evolutionary path and rises to the challenge of responding to large-scale, all-encompassing questions of meaning; all the while, it traces the outlines of a science of consciousness and ultimately succeeds in conceiving a coherent and spiritualized existence.
We would like to quote E. Lazlo when he says that “the emerging vision of reality is more than a theory and does not involve scientists alone. It draws us closer than ever to lifting the veil of sensory perception and to understanding the true nature of the world. This is a welcome discovery for our own life and prosperity that validates something we have always suspected yet were unable to express in these modern times (even though we have never tried to do so, unless in the guise of poets or lovers). That something is a sense of belonging ... we are a coherent part of a coherent world.”
By reaching beyond the barriers of space, transcending linear time and bringing about an amazing expansion of consciousness, transpersonal experiences lead us into the presence of a Oneness; let us knowingly partake in the interconnection, integrality, and consistency of the Cosmos. Our encounter with the Holy can deeply change us, making us take on the responsibility of witnessing and spreading a culture that is entwined in spirituality, imbued with love, geared towards sharing.
From Einstein onwards it has been our belief that science is lame without religion, and religion is blind without science.
We believe in the possibility of tracing the outlines of a Science that does not claim to utter certainties without providing guarantee of validity; a Science that does not wither and die in the exercise of verifiable and repeatable experimental protocols without waiving its duty to question nature by means of reliable investigative procedures; a Science that is not reduced to what is measurable but is capable – as Maslow hopes – of broadening its jurisdiction and its methods, dares to venture boldly where angels fear to tread - as suggested by Bateson – yet, at the same time, knows when to stop humbly at the threshold of the mystery.
We believe it is useful and necessary to work for the rise of a knowledge that, while providing guarantee of validity, speaks wisely on the individual Self’s participatory journey into Psyche’s Kingdom, on the individual Soul’s journey into Anima Mundi, and on the individual’s journey into the Cosmos.
This editorial project starts with the intention of being an instrument for sharing and giving to all those involved in inner experience; a meeting point for those who draw knowledge and inspiration from the transpersonal dimension.
ITJ seeks to provide a space where to gather and discuss openly, where to focus the cultural production of all those who, as humbly yet as powerfully as they can, are capable of casting upon the world the unique look of awareness, while at the same time preparing themselves to process any number of tools and frameworks designed to highlight the guarantee of validity.
In this way we wish to help craft an epistemology that allows the transcendental inner experience and the phenomenal experience of the world of nature, culture and environment, consciousness and matter, to be all examined in a participatory light that is also dynamic and interconnected by means of that threefold gaze as suggested by St. Bonaventure and submitted again by Wilber: an eye of the flesh, an eye of the mind, and an eye of the spirit.
ITJ wants to brand itself as a place of teaching and learning, and where, upon listening, one transcends and encompasses, free from the known, and where one undertakes that journey towards Oneness we strive to partake in.
From a cultural perspective, this is a journey that, following the suggestion of Confucius, should be able to restore things to their proper name, and hand words such as Science, Psyche, Theory, Soul, Spirit, Sacred, Medicine, Void, Love (to name but a few) back to their true meanings.
Best wishes
The staff of ITJ
16. The Moldavian Transpersonal Associationews from the Estonian Transpersonal Association
Ludmila Scortesca writes:
The Moldovan Association was founded in 2003 in cooperation with the Romanian and the Russian Association.
Maybe it's no coincidence the participants to start our development.
We see it as a bridge between Western Europe and Eastern Europe.
Since 2004, regular training in Holotropic Breathwork and the study of dreams by the method of Jung-Seine. Рpermanently conduct trainings and seminars with teachers from other countries included in EUROTAS. Works in conjunction with the Moscow coaches training program on process-oriented therapy. Participation in the project study of the effect of sound vibrations to the change of consciousness. The studies were conducted in the General Military Hospital Affairs of Russia. As a result, it was proved that the sounds of certain frequencies affect the biochemistry of the blood and raise the level of antioxidant in human blood.
This year we are opening the Institute of Transpersonal training and developing project of social network to help promote transpersonal views and ideas via the Internet.
Our idea is to build an online community for the knowledge and skills that will expand the boundaries of audience and most of the educational process.
This project is called Daisy www.Daisynet.info and is based on webinars technology. Web conferencing is used to conduct live meetings, training, or presentations via the Internet. In a web conference, each participant sits at his or her own computer and is connected to other participants via the internet.
We start to create the international telecommunication platform for teachers and students and for all the people who are looking for self-development.
The idea behind this network is to provide access to one of the most valuable resource in human life, access to knowledge.
We are creating a fund that will support and develop the Daisy project.
We all have a natural desire for communication and development.
We hope that our project will make a contribution to the promotion of new knowledge for a better future.
We encourage all who are interested in our project for joint creation, the common good and unity.
Best wishes and love
Lyudmila
17. The Scientific and Medical Network launch the New Renaissance
The SCM have expressed an interest in being more closely associated with EUROTAS and more about that in a future Newsletter. Here is the information about the recent launch of “The New Renaissance.” Book and programme. It is well worth reading this outline below.
------
A New Renaissance diagnoses an urgent need for change and renewal in a period of crisis for philosophy, science and society. The Florentine Renaissance, some six hundred years ago, took a huge leap forward into realism, rationality and self-awareness. It was born out of the waning authority of medieval institutions and beliefs. We stand now at a similar junction in history. It is apparent to many that reductionist science with its materialist values - the worldview that has driven modern culture for the last two centuries - is losing credibility. Its objectives of growth and acquisition, and its guiding principles asserting that there is no intrinsic meaning to life or purpose in the cosmos are now widely seen as creating an unsustainable world.
The essays gathered in A New Renaissance are a cultural response to the failings of the materialist worldview. Contributions in the first part diagnose the sources of the crisis in the current worldview. The second section searches for a new understanding of consciousness and mind, based on findings in new non-materialist philosophy. The third section looks to a renewal of spirituality beyond religion, aiming to recapture the personal depth and connection to the cosmos that materialism denies or ignores. The fourth section examines possible reforms in politics, economics and education to help bring forth a society that can sustain the flourishing of human beings in the globally interconnected world of the twenty-first century.

18. Last Words
“The first thing I have to say respecting what are called new views is that they are now new, but the very oldest of thoughts cast into the mould of these new times. The light is always identical in its composition, but it falls on a great variety of objects, and by so falling is first revealed to us, not in its own form, for it is formless"
