The Polish Transpersonal Association

Polskie Towarzystwo Transpersonalne www.mandala.polbox.pl was founded in 1992 by a group of Polish intellectuals, inspired by reflections concerning the situation of post-communist countries in the context of the global transformation process. The sense of responsibility for the society going through a difficult time of political, social and cultural changes was a strong incentive to take action. A group of Polish sociologists, psychologists, philosophers and educators decided to unite their efforts and start working with people, helping them adapt to the new Polish reality, overcome the fear of change, act creatively and with a sense of freedom and dignity.

The direct impulse to start this work in a more organised form was provided by the cofounders of EUROTAS, Monique Tiberghien from Belgium and Rumold Mol from Holland, who came to Poland in 1992 in order to present the potential of transpersonal work.

The PTA joined EUROTAS in 1993, taking actively part in its meetings and projects, which resulted in Poland becoming the host of the 4th European Transpersonal Conference which took place in Warsaw in 1997. The 5-day conference, with the title: "Mandala of chaos and harmony", was attended by over 300 people from Western, Central and Eastern Europe, the United States, Mexico and Japan.

The main activities of the Association are in the sphere of education, psychotherapy, self-development and community building. We would like to provide a safe, nurturing and open environment to enable people both to heal their wounds, cope with existential and spiritual crises, and to open up their growth potential, free self-expression and a wise and compassionate attitude to life's circumstances and others.

The BRIDGE

Training programme for University students studying Psychology, Medicine, Philosophy, Sociology together with already practising psychologists and psychotherapists wishing to receive additional training in transpersonal psychology. We focus on the theory and practice of varrous schools and methods through hands on experience.

THE THRESHOLDS OF LIFE:

The cicle of therapeutic workshops

Tanna Jakubowicz-Mount and her team of co-therapists and trainees specialise in therapy based on a process of initiation. This is the inner journey towards the hidden treasure of our true nature by overcoming the mountains of fear and confronting the Monsters- the guardians of the Source. It demands the awakening of the inner Guide, Lover and Warrier. The role of therapists is to miror true qualities of the person. It acts like an arrow of love and light piercing through the Persona to the center of being. The process of therapy includes body work, chakra and energy work, visualisation and meditation, creative expression and rite of passage type of activities.

VISITORS FROM THE WEST

PTA invites yearly several transpersonal therapists from Western Europe ( within EUROTAS-EAST-WEST Exchange Programme) like Pia Keiding, John Drew, Nico and Ariette Vissels, Anja Brasser and from US like Beatrix Pfleiderer, Mattie Davis-Wolfe & David Thomson.

THE MESSENGER

PTA is active in conveying the message of transpersonal paradigm in psychology and culture trough lectures, workshops, interviews and articles in various media all over Poland
